Skin Care, skin, beauty, skin care for sensitive skin

The best skin care regime for sensitive skin is to use extra gentle products to keep it supple and healthy. Use hypo-allergenic skin care products as well as hypo-allergenic make-up as these products are specially formulated for sensitive skin.

Sensitive skin is usually quite fine in texture with a tendency to be rosier than normal. It is easily irritated by products and external factors. It is also prone to redness and may have fine broken veins across the cheeks and nose.

Follow this skin care regime daily so your skin will look and feel its best.

Step 1. Cleanse

When cleansing your skin it is advisable not to use facial washes and soaps, as these are likely to strip your skin of oil and moisture which can increase its sensitivity even more. Instead choose a hypo-allergenic cleansing lotion.

Step 2. Rinse

Rinse all traces of cleanser from your face and neck with warm water. Then pat your face dry taking care not to rub your skin as this may cause irritation.

Step 3. Exfoliate (recommend once a week)

Gently exfoliating your skin will slough away any dry flaky patches of skin, which will help your skin care products work properly.

As a general rule of thumb, exfoliate your skin no more than once a week. Exfoliating every day may make your skin become drier.

Exfoliate your skin in the morning as your skin renews itself overnight.

Apply your exfoliant over a wet face gently slough away dry flaky skin. Rinse and pat dry.

Step 4. Toner

Balance your skin’s moisture with a rosewater toner. Avoiding the delicate eye area as this can become more prone to dryness.

Apply Rosewater or Calendula Calming Mist to your skin with a gentle cotton round and pat into your face and neck, avoiding the delicate eye area as this can become more prone to dryness.

Step 5. Sunscreen

It is important to use a Sunscreen even on cloudy days. Apply a sunscreen with a SPF+50 factor onto your face, neck, backs of your hands and your decolletage area (right down to your nipple line).

Allow the sunscreen to soak in before continuing with the next step.

Step 6. Eye cream (optional)

Eye cream moisturises your eyes. Gently patting a pea-size amount of cream on the undereye area with your ring finger, (which applies the least pressure).

Start below the inner corners of eyes and move out toward your temples using a gentle tapping motion, apply along cheek and brow bone.

Step 7. Moisturiser

If your skin is feeling a little sensitive it is vital to keep your skin moisturised to keep it strong and supple and provide a barrier against irritants that can lead to sensitivity. Dryness can make sensitive skin more uncomfortable, so it is a good idea to choose an organic moisturiser.

Apply moisturiser formula to the back of your hand and from there apply a dot to your forehead, nose, each cheek, chin, neck and decolletage, using light upward strokes to massage it in.

Step 8. Makeup Application

Wait a few minutes before applying your make-up.

Step 9. Set

Mist your face with Rosewater to add more hydration and to set your make-up in place.

Step 1. Remove Make-up

Remove your makeup with Micellar Water. Concentrate on removing all traces of makeup, especially your mascara.

The skin around the eyes is delicate, so don’t drag it when removing your eye makeup. Soak a cotton make-up pad with a non-oily remover and hold over your eyes for a few seconds to dissolve the make-up, then lightly wipe it away from the eyelids and lashes.

Step 2. Cleanse

Cleanse your skin by splashing your face with water, then massage in a gentle face wash, working it into a lather for about 30 seconds. It is a good idea to lightly massage your skin, because this will boost the supply of blood to the surface of your skin – which means a rosier complexion.

Step 3. Rinse

Thoroughly rinse all traces of cleanser from your face, then pat your face dry.

Step 4: Mask (optional)

If you have the time and like to indulge, consider applying a face mask once or twice a week after you’ve cleansed your face but and before applying other products from your nighttime skin care routine.

If your skin is on the sensitive side, consider using a nurturing mask.

Step 5 Toner

Balance your skin’s moisture with Calendula Calming Mist or  Rosewater. Avoiding the delicate eye area as this can become more prone to dryness.

Step 6Serum

Serums penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients. This makes them a great tool for targeting specific skincare concerns, like fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation.

Always apply serum directly to your skin after cleansing or toning and before your moisturiser and sunscreen.

Step 7. Eye Cream

Eye cream moisturises your eyes. Gently patting a pea-size amount of cream on the undereye area with your ring finger, (which applies the least pressure).

Start below the inner corners of eyes and move out toward your temples using a gentle tapping motion, apply along cheek and brow bone.
When looking for eye creams, check for formulas that have peptides, to boost hydration and help firm the skin to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Step 8. Moisturise

Apply moisturiser formula to the back of your hand and from there apply a dot to your forehead, nose, to each cheek, chin, neck and decolletage, use light upward strokes to massage it in.
