5 Tips to Help You Find True Joy

It is so easy to get caught in the daily grind and then we forget about one of the most important things in life….Joy.

Here are 5 tips to help you find true joy.

Tip #1 Choose to take responsibility of your life.

By taking charge of the way you feel, the way you react and the choices you make on a daily basis, you will regain control of your happiness and eventually your life.

Tip #2 Spend time with people who make you happy.

Supportive, positive friends and family members help to make up the fabric of your life so spend time with people who uplift and encourage you. 

Experts say, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with so choose your friends wisely.

Tip #3 Do something nurturing that meets your own needs everyday.

Often great joy can come from the smallest things. When spending time alone, try watching a sunset/sunrise, read a book or listen to music, talk on the phone with a friend, or take time out for a walk in the park.

If your busy schedule doesn’t allow quiet time, just sitting quietly and consciously breathing can improve your mood and relieve some stress.

Tip #4 Find a reason for living.

Explore various avenues that make you feel good and give you a sense of purpose. 

It could be caring for a loved one, rescuing a puppy from the animal shelter, studying part-time, or discovering your own spiritual path.

Tip #5 Make peace with the past. 

In order to have inner peace you need to make peace with your past. If you are struggling to make peace, consider seeing a counsellor, a kinesiologist, or start learning tapping (EFT), do a personal growth workshop or write your feelings in a journal.

This might be an ongoing process for a while, as emotions will surface over time, but you will eventually be at peace.
