Let’s dive into the ultimate DIY pedicure guide:
A pedicure at home refers to performing the various steps and treatments typically associated with a professional spa pedicure within the comfort of your own home.
Materials you will need
Before we dive into the step-by-step process, gather the following materials:
Warm water
Epsom salt
Nail clippers and file
Cuticle pusher
Pumice stone or foot scrub
Nail polish remover
Nail polish (base, colour, and top coat)
Moisturiser
Now that you’ve got everything ready, let’s proceed with the DIY pedicure:
Step-by-Step Home Pedicure Guide
Step 1: Set the Ambiance
Choose a quiet corner with good lighting.
Light some scented candles or play soothing music.
Make it your personal oasis.
Step 2: Soak your feet
Fill a bowl or pedi-bath with warm water and add Epsom salt.
Soak your feet for about 10 minutes to soften the skin and relax your muscles.
Instructions:
To make an ACV Foot Soak:
Mix warm water with raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (about 1 part ACV to 2-3 parts water).
Soak your feet for 15-20 minutes.
Dry your feet with a clean dry towel.
Remember, consistency is key!
Treat your feet to this delightful soak once or twice a week, and they’ll thank you by dancing through life.
Step 3: Trim and shape your nails
Use nail clippers to trim your nails straight across (round off the corners)
File them into your desired length and shape.
Step 4: Push back your cuticles
Gently push back cuticles using a cuticle pusher.
Avoid cutting or pulling at them (as this can cause infection).
Step 5: Exfoliate your feet
Use a pumice stone or foot scrub to remove dead skin from heels/soles.
Focus on rough/cracked areas.
Step 6: Massage your feet
Apply moisturiser and give yourself a relaxing foot massage.
Pay particular attention to pressure points and achy areas.
Step 7: Prep nails for polish
Wipe toenails with nail polish remover to remove any oil/cream.
Apply a base coat to protect toe nails from polish stains.
Step 8: Apply nail polish
Choose your favourite colour and roll the bottle between your palms.
Apply polish in thin, even layers allowing it to dry in between coats.
Finish with a top coat for shine and longevity.
Step 9: Seal the deal
Allow your toe nails to dry completely.
Step 10: Show off your beautiful feet!
Wear your favourite sandals or flip-flops.
Admire your salon-worthy pedicure
